OTHER CRIMINAL DEFENSE CASES IN PHOENIX
Providing nationwide legal representation from Phoenix, Arizona, since 1978.
Over 40 years of combined experience with criminal investigations, trials, and appeals, especially “white collar” criminal defense, including: extortion; counterfeiting (acquittal); conspiracy (dismissed; client withdrew); obstruction of justice; forfeiture; state and federal habeas actions (two releases); and fraud – mail, wire, Medicare, bank, securities, telemarketing, and agriculture.
Previously appointed by the U.S. District Court in Arizona as a Criminal Justice Act (CJA) attorney – trial counsel for indigents. Cases ranged from bank robbery to firearms. Served for decades, and continue to serve, as CJA counsel on appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, with cases ranging from narcotics to domestic terrorism and murder. In 1988, represented “the Colonel,” CIA operative, before the Senate Select Committee which investigated the Iran-Contra matter, including Lt. Col. Oliver North. The Senate alleged that our client, at the request of the CIA, purchased the arms shipment from North, and sold it to those who controlled the world arms market – Arab terrorists. The Colonel was granted immunity to testify; but, even at the threat of imprisonment, “indefinitely but not forever,” for contempt of Congress, refused to identify the Arab terrorist arms buyers. Said the Colonel to the Senate counsel during deposition, “I do not want to be pushed in front of a trolley in Vienna.” Read about “The Colonel” in April 15th: The Most Pernicious Attack Upon English Liberties.
